I wanted to reflect the streetscape of the city in the visual language.
Engaging the next generation of community leaders in civic engagement, policy work, economic development, and education was a core focus for the founding members. The challenge the identity system needed to solve was how to connect with the Bridgeport community and communicate the limitless potential of the movement. Capturing the zany, professional, youth oriented, and hand made characteristics of the city in design was an essential part of the brief as well.
Bridgeport has a very rich art culture and creative community. While walking around the city, you can’t help but notice the street art on many of the buildings, stairways, and bridges. I wanted to reflect the streetscape of the city in the visual language, so I developed a display type and series of illustrations that were inspired by a lot of the art around the city. This allowed for an array of interpretations for future campaigns while providing enough structure, consistency, and charisma to be recognized as a singular identity. ✖
